Do Children Still Want Toys for Christmas?

Ask any little boy or girl in the UK what they want this year for Christmas and chances are their answer will include just as many gadgets as traditional toys. I was looking forward to buying my niece dolls this Christmas, there were so many beautiful choices with dolls that giggled, talked, burped, you name it.

The prams were gorgeous too, I could image how cute they would look in her room. I could even get her a whole set with a soft baby doll, a pram, a travel cot with a carry bag and a highchair with a feeding tray. She could set up a whole nursery on the corner of her room.

Alas, when I asked my niece what she wanted Santa to bring her this year for Christmas, she said she wanted an iPod. My sister said her son was even worse. No traditional toys for him, he would rather have a video game about cars than actual toy cars.

I found a compromise, the radio controlled Lightning McQueen from the movie Cars. For my niece, a Fijit Friend is an acceptable alternative I hope. Its a soft, cuddly toy that’s interactive. You could call it a doll although it looks like a bunny. It does apparently passion for fashion, make-up and jewelry so at least that’s girly.
